Got a winter coat you don't need? Donate it to the NIBC Warm Jacket House
For the second year in a row, NIBC Bank will be setting up its ‘Warm Jacket House’ on the Grote Markt in The Hague on 13, 14 and 15 January: a place where adults and children who could use some extra support during this cold winter can pick up a warm winter coat for free.
Help out: give your winter coat a second life
Last year, NIBC employees collected more than 400 jackets, almost all of which were picked up on the first day. A sign that this initiative is much needed. That is why the Hague-based bank, which has been located in the centre of The Hague for 80 years, is calling on local residents: do you have a winter jacket that you no longer wear but is still in good condition? Donate it! NIBC employees will ensure that your jacket goes to someone who can really use it.
Where and when can you drop off a coat?
- Thursday, 8 January | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the NIBC office, Carnegieplein 4;
- Friday, 9 January | 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Café Zèta, Grote Markt 28;
- Tuesday 13 January to Thursday 15 January | 12:00 – 16:00 at the Warm Jacket House, Grote Markt.
During the opening hours of the Warme Jassenhuisje, NIBC employees will collect coats and distribute them. Hot chocolate will be available for anyone who comes to drop off or pick up something.
Why this initiative?
Figures from Statistics Netherlands show that approximately 34,000 residents of The Hague do not have sufficient income or savings to make ends meet. This puts the city in the top 5 Dutch municipalities with the highest poverty rate.
As a bank based in The Hague, NIBC wants to fulfil its social responsibility by making a positive contribution to the local community. NIBC has been based in The Hague for 80 years and feels closely connected to the city and its residents. With the Warm Jacket House, NIBC wants to contribute to the well-being of the local community.
Collaboration with SchuldHulpMaatje
For this initiative, NIBC is collaborating with SchuldHulpMaatje, an organisation that reaches out to people with (impending) debts at an early stage and guides them towards a debt-free life. Behavioural change and financial self-reliance are central to this. SchuldHulpMaatje is also present when coats are distributed at the Warm Jacket House and talks to people who need support.
