NIBC Investment Partners supports Cubics' in their growth ambitions

NIBC Investment Partners invests in ICT service provider Cubics to accelerate the Company’s growth. Cubics’ directors and majority shareholders Alex Otten and Ard Smulders have expressed the ambition to grow Cubics towards an ICT company of 150,000 Users in the coming years. NIBC Investment Partners becomes a minority shareholder and will support the management team in executing this ambitious plan.

Cubics is an IT Managed Service Provider which serves its clients by supporting, managing and implementing ICT solutions. The company, which will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2023, has been led by Ard Smulders since 1992, after which Alex Otten joined in 2021.

Partnerships

Part of the intended growth plan is to realise partnerships and acquisitions within the IT Managed Service Provider landscape. In 2021, a first important step was taken by Cubics with the acquisition of an ICT company in the region. Together with NIBC Investment Partners, Cubics has the opportunity to become a national player within IT services.

Keyword for the acquisition strategy is ‘partnerships’. Cubics values the fact that entrepreneurs and/or management teams from target companies remain involved and invest alongside in the Cubics Group. In this way all entrepreneurs work towards a long-term growth plan, in which they can optimize the value of their services for the clients. The fact that the entrepreneurs partner up and remain in control perfectly fits the investment strategy of NIBC Investment Partners.

Cybersecurity

Cubics own developed cybersecurity service for Dutch enterprises C-fence will also be an important aspect of the growth strategy. In this way Cubics responds to the expected demand for protection against the growing number of cyber attacks. The product offers protection against cyber attacks in a way that it remains affordable for its clients.

Ard Smulders, shareholder of Cubics: "In order to realize our growth, we need a strong financial partner. With NIBC Investment Partners on board, we can take the steps we envisage. We can continue to develop the business the way we want to, and in this we are supported by a solid and experienced shareholder."

Frans van der Harst, Managing Director NIBC Investment Partners: "We are impressed by Cubics' corporate culture and innovative capacity. By joining forces with the current shareholders and all employees, we are convinced that Cubics will seize the growth opportunities and strengthen its market position. We look forward to the partnership in the coming years.".
