NIBC introduces an enhanced Sustainability Discount for energy-efficient homes with an energy label of A+++ or higher
NIBC is introducing a more generous Sustainability Discount for energy-efficient homes with an energy rating of A+++ or higher. Customers receive a 0.15% interest rate discount for a fixed-rate period of up to 10 years and a 0.08% interest rate discount for a longer fixed-rate period. With this move, NIBC is encouraging further sustainability in the housing market and rewarding customers who choose the most energy-efficient homes.
The discount applies to new customers and to existing customers who are renewing their fixed-rate period or wish to increase their current mortgage. Customers purchasing a home with a lower energy label may also be eligible if they upgrade their home to A+++ or higher within an agreed period.
The increased discount applies only to the NIBC Extra Mortgage and to loan portions with a fixed-rate start date from 25 March 2026.
Follow‑up to earlier announcement
In 2025, NIBC announced that it would offer an interest rate discount for homes with an energy label of A or higher. With the new details of the Sustainability Discount, NIBC is taking the next step: an extra benefit for customers with a home that achieves the highest energy performance.
Automatic application based on energy label data
The Sustainability Discount is applied automatically based on available energy label data. In this way, NIBC aims to make the process as simple as possible for customers and remove barriers to becoming more sustainable.
Making sustainable living more accessible
With the Sustainability Discount, NIBC emphasises the importance of sustainability and helps customers make sustainable choices. In this way, NIBC aims to contribute to a greener and more sustainable housing market.
“At NIBC, we believe it is important to support customers in their sustainability goals not only when they take out their mortgage, but throughout the entire term. With the Sustainability Discount, we create a win-win situation: customers save on their monthly costs whilst making a positive contribution to the climate,” says Dirk van den Beukel, Director of Mortgages at NIBC.
