Since March 2025, Sven de Veij is the Chief Risk Officer and a member of the Managing Board. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
He started his career at NIBC in 2004 in the Corporate Lending team, focusing on credit analysis and deal execution, moving onwards to the Infrastructure & Renewable Energy team followed by the Offshore Energy team, of which he later became the head. Over the years Sven has been involved in deal origination, transaction structuring and restructurings as well as several large strategic projects. He has extensive experience in credit and investment risk management, capital and portfolio optimisation and portfolio divestment processes.
Before becoming NIBC’s Chief Risk Officer, he was the Head of Corporate Banking Portfolio Management, managing multiple teams across NIBC’s offices in the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Germany. In addition, he was a member of several management committees and led various strategic internal projects, of both a regulatory and commercial nature.
